G’day, I’m Roger and I look forward to meeting you in person one day as you read this short bio. I’m a lucky husband to my beautiful wife Megan and together we have four children varying in age from twelve to twenty-one. Family life can be challenging at times but we love them dearly and wouldn’t change them if we could.
Though growing up with some knowledge of God, the spiritual journey is a lifelong one that never ends for me as each new day I can learn something new about who God is and what He is doing in our midst. I felt a calling to leave my job after some time as a carpenter, accounting nerd and computer geek to serve God full time in church ministry. After twenty plus years I’ve found such an exciting journey that has led to exciting opportunities serving people in different places around the world.
I grew up in Melbourne’s south eastern suburbs, served in Sydney for a season and am now excited to have a new season in sunny Queensland. Will I switch to the Maroons? I don’t know that I ever switched to the Blues, sorry Sydney.
If you find yourself in the area, why not come on down and let me shout you a coffee.
Hi, my name is Julie and I’m the Pastor for Communications and Worship (part-time). I love music and have always been involved in singing, playing or teaching.
I have a degree in music education and taught music in the classroom and privately for many years. I have a passion for seeing people connect with God through music and worship.
My role is to create services at Whitehill that help us to do that. In my role, I also do a lot of the planning for Whitehill of what our Church calendar and programming looks like.
I also am a leader in our Young Adults ministry where I am passionate about seeing Young Adults understand and own their faith and grow in it.
I am a single mum and have 2 great kids: Rachel, married to Andy and Matthew. Rachel teaches at a local Primary school and Matt is working in HR in Sydney.
As for me, I love having cups of tea and chatting with people, reading, painting, craft and going to the theatre or a show.
Next Gen Pastor
Hi, I’m Brad and I am excited to be on the Whitehill staff team as the NextGen Pastor. I am passionate about seeing people come to a saving faith in Jesus and begin practicing the way of Jesus together.
Previously I served with my wife, Julia, in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne. During this time, I studied a Bachelor of Theology at Australian College of Ministries. Prior to my time there, I completed an internship at Whitehill where I developed a passion for discipleship and left my study of occupational therapy to follow God’s call into ministry.
Originally being from Queensland, I never acclimatised to Melbourne nor came to love AFL. I am excited to be back in Queensland where I can enjoy the sunshine with friends and family. If I’m not at church, you can find me up a mountain, on a beach or losing dozens of balls on the golf course.
I look forward to joining you and can’t wait to see how God will continue working in and through the people of this community.
Hello, my name is Merryl Klos and I am the Administration Assistant at Whitehill (4 days per week). I love being involved in the admin side of Whitehill.
With this role, I am able to support all staff, Whitehill groups and individuals in their work for the Lord. I have been involved in admin work with Whitehill/ East Ipswich church for the past 28 years commencing from 6 hours a week to 26 hours a week as the demand and needs grew in the life of the church.
I am married to Bruno Klos and have 3 adult children Tennille, Mitchell and Jarred.
I am a very proud Nana to Aria, daughter of Mitchell and Emma.
My family means the world to me. I am very fortunate that my children live and work in the Ipswich area and are able to worship and be involved in Whitehill.
Some other interests I have are, reading, attending live theatre and scrapbooking.
Hi, I’m Maree and I’m the Operations Manager at Whitehill, looking after administration, facility bookings and finance. I’ve been part of the congregation at Whitehill for 3 years now and am excited to be part of the team.
My favourite Bible verse is Matthew 6:26 which says, “ Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?” In the last few years I have been learning to trust God more in every aspect of my life, and have certainly experienced his love and care in many unexpected ways.
Previously I completed a Bachelor of Science majoring in Biology and Biotechnology, and a PhD majoring in Plant Pathology and Molecular Genetics, so you could say I’m a bit of a science nerd. I’d been prayerfully looking towards a career change with more of a people-focus which is why I was thrilled about this position. While I work here at Whitehill I will also be studying a Masters of Business Administration (apparently I love to study).
Some of my interests outside of work include dressmaking, vintage fashion and hiking. I’m also a dog lover and while I don’t have any of my own, I am a proud aunty to many of my friends’ dogs. Feel free to tell me all about your fur babies.
It is a privilege to be part of the church council this year. My wife Marion and I have now been members of the church for almost 20 years.
We wouldn’t think of going anywhere else. We are proud parents of Jake, recently married to Esther, Tohbi and Matilda.
I am passionate about a few things – helping people discover the truth of Jesus, surfing and my horses. In my current role, I serve as Mission Action Partner for Churches of Christ in the Greater Ipswich region.
I am tasked with empowering the local church to engage more effectively with God in his mission. This involves a number of dimensions.
First, doing personal mission regularly and sharing my learnings with others.
Second, by actively encouraging others in our churches and services to do likewise.
Third, looking to actively affirm actions of mission whenever and wherever I encounter them.
Finally, by partnering with like-minded individuals and organisations that are on the same mission. I look forward to serving you in this season and remain committed to our mission at Whitehill.
Raised in a Christian home. I’m now married to Tracy and together we are raising four dashing sons, Harrison, Lachlan, Samuel and Hunter. ” style=”square_outline” color=”green”]I am in constant awe of God’s amazing love and endless grace that He lavishes on us. It amazes me that He desires to be in relationship with us and that despite all of our failings He chooses to use us in achieving His ends on earth. I therefore count it a real honour to be able to serve here at Whitehill as an Elder.
I have been blessed to be married to Tracy for over 20 years, and together we are raising four sons who are growing into men – Harrison, Lachlan, Samuel and Hunter.
I studied civil engineering at university and have since worked as a consulting engineer, a senior project officer, and senior policy officer in State Government.
For the past 13 years I have been employed by GM Poles in various sales and engineering roles and now as the National Sales Manager.
In addition to my role as an Elder I enjoy being a part of the worship team and I count it a real privilege to lead the congregation in worship.
Hi! I am Dan Leadbetter and have called Whitehill Church of Christ my Church home since 2001. I have been married to Kathy for 31 years, and have three children – Benjamin (27) (married to Sancintya), Hannah (21), and Zachary (19).
I have been involved in Whitehill with Kathy as a small group leader, coffee cart and
serving. I had previously served as an Elder for six years from 2010 to 2016 . Both Kathy and I have a heart for working mission in the Solomon Islands, coordinating teams from Whitehill in 2009, 2011, 2013, 2015, 2017, and again this year, in 2019.
G’day, I’m Paul. My wife Carol and I have been attending Whitehill Church of Christ for over 20 years and we now enjoy it with our four children, Grace, Harmony, Abel and Mercy. I value time with my family and friends, camping, hiking and holidaying around our great country.
I was brought up in a Christian home, attending Ipswich Gospel Chapel and made a personal commitment to the Lord when I was 9 and later baptised. Since then I have been involved in camps, children’s, youth, young adult and men’s ministries.
After the shock passing of my Dad in 2005, my siblings and I have supported Mum, learning to rely on God for his strength, wisdom and guidance. I have also come to know that maintaining a strong marriage and raising great children, is a ministry that requires my full dependence on God, and I realise the importance of understanding and living in obedience to God’s word, a journey I am on for life.
I am honoured to be an Elder at Whitehill and enjoy gathering together at Whitehill for many years. With my experience as General Manager of a global consulting firm and holding Director and Executive positions of local companies and not for profits, and my passion to see His kingdom grow, I look forward to serving Whitehill and the community with what God has planned.
