One of the most important elements of church life is equipping people for ministry. At Whitehill this occurs in a variety of ways through training courses (eg. “How to lead a Life Group”), “in-ministry” training sessions with leaders, Conferences (eg. Global Leadership Summit) and also intensive training such as with internship programs. Pastor Ben successfully ran an internship program for a number of years which sowed into the lives of young people who made a 12 month commitment to learning, growing and serving. During the recent years of Covid and Staff transition, we paused this Internship Training Opportunity or Gap year until we were staffed to once again offer this training. I am excited and pleased to let you know that we are planning to recommence this opportunity in 2022.
The goal of these programs is to provide education, training and opportunity to take leaps forward in our faith and to serve God in a greater capacity. More information on this program will be available at the start of term 4 about the 2022 intake. Internships are also a great way to explore careers in ministry. Academic study seeks to provide the knowledge and whilst practical on-the-job training seeks to refine gifts and skills in church ministry.
This year we have been excited to welcome many new people to Whitehill. One young man is already in this next stage of pursuing a Pastoral Ministry Career. After a variety of conversations, we are very excited to take Andrew onto the team as a Student Pastor. Andrew will be assisting formally with our welcoming and discovering Jesus program. Please give Andrew and Nerida (Ness) Wilson and children a big welcome to Whitehill. To read more about Andrew visit our website “Meet the Team” page (https://whitehill.church/about/leadership-team/)
