As a church we set the 2021 budget at $442k for the year. The budget is based around a variety of factors, but most importantly it is formed around the vision of what we are seeking to achieve. Our vision is to Love God, Love People and Follow Jesus. This means that we invest in our Worship Ministries that connect with hundreds of believers on weekly basis, both in staff and technical resources. We invest in our Children and Youth ministries with the goal to see them grow in faith. Because people matter to God and they also matter to us.
In the last 18 months since commencing at Whitehill, one key priority has been to build a quality staff team and gifted ministry teams. Ministry is effective, as every part of the body does its part. By God’s grace we have added new staff members and many gifted people to ministry teams. We have also adapted to the ever-changing environment of Covid with online services and ministries options.
Our church vision has been renewed together and we have worked hard to create multiple processes (eg. newcomers to connect). Building today, to facilitate growth into the future. Scripture teaches that unless God builds the house, we labour in vain. So we are on the Church Growth Project together. It is exciting to see many positive changes taking place including the many newcomers joining Whitehill. Our giving continues to fuel the church ministries.
Our budget is set using wise stewardship principles. The 2021 budget giving is marginally higher than last years actual offerings ($436k), when we endured the initial hardships of the covid lockdown and some friends lost work and employment. The budget amount is also lower than previous years where our annual giving surpassed this figure as we are aware of the significant changes that have taken place.
To the end of June (6 months) our actual giving was $200,382.15 (Last year $201,506.62). Our budget for 6 months is approx. $221k. This means that we are currently behind around $20k. We are aware that some people give weekly, fortnightly, monthly and some quarterly or even annually (which is easier if you own a business).
True generosity flows from a heart filled by God, so we don’t share this to ring alarm bells. We completely trust God to supply our needs but felt as people had asked, that we would be transparent. Of course, we do encourage everyone to give regularly as part of their worship to God to support the ministry here at Whitehill. To give, may be completely new for some, maybe an established practice for others. Our heart is to see God’s work at Whitehill unhindered by financial resources so that the His vision for us and our community can be realised. I pray you’ll continue or join with me in the grace of giving.
