Most will know that after Courtney finished her time as Children’s Ministry Co-ordinator, due to Micah being born, we were without anyone to help with Children’s ministry during the difficult Covid season. Everyone was super appreciative of all of you as ministry leaders stepping up to manage an already difficult season by going the extra mile. We prayed and tried multiple avenues to find someone who was suitably gifted, experienced and trained and although we chatted with a couple of people, these declined the offers of a role at Whitehill. Often God has to close some doors before we walk through the open ones.
Then in early 2021 Wendy expressed interest in the role and wanted to trial during term 1, just with Kids Church. God had already directed us to Ephesians 4:11-16 with the focus of training and equipping people within Whitehill. It is our role to call gifted people into ministry and invest in the people God has already called to Whitehill. Anyone that knows Wendy has likely seen her passion and work ethic with the Whitehill Kitchen project. She is highly organised and very hard working. She has also had years of experience serving in Children’s ministries in multiple large churches so has been a part of some really dynamic programs. To compliment Wendy’s experience, we will be supporting her as she enrols in a Diploma of Ministry (part time). Wendy’s role as the Whitehill Children’s pastor is a part time paid role, initially for two days. This will include overseeing all the children’s ministries connected to Whitehill. Wendy will be there to encourage, support and help guide ministries, as needed, to help fulfil our church vision statement to “Love God, Love People and Follow Jesus.” So if you have any ideas, needs, questions or suggestions for Children’s ministry please see Wendy as she is overflowing with ideas too.
We are so excited to have Wendy formally join the team and will be inducting Wendy into this role, this Sunday at both services to help introduce her to everyone at Whitehill. Please encourage and support her in this new role. Ministry can be hard for so many reasons and we want to see Wendy thrive with you and see much fruit.
