For the last 12 months we have been able to pray and work through the functional needs of leadership at a Staff level. As has been shared every staff role is designed to be a leader of various ministries and teams, to train and equip people for ministry. Only as every person uses their God-given gifts, can the church be built up in love. Paul instructs us that everyone has been given a gift, so consequently our goal is to help everyone find a place that they can serve in the church.
We have had a number of staff movements over the last few years for different reasons. Some have left big shoes to fill. Initially for the last six months we have sought to advertise and employ gifted, experienced and trained people for these roles. We are blessed to have had Brad join the team through this process. Some roles continue to be a struggle to find the people. This continues to grow my patience as I prayerfully wait on God. Recently I preached on the parable of the talents in Matthew and was felt God lead us to continue to develop our training and equipping. So we have continued to approach people in our own congregation and ask has God already sent people who are gifted that we need to invest in training them? Internships were a great example of this training.
With the Welcoming/Integration role, I prayerfully sought God on who was gifted with people? Of course I saw Merryl Klos each Sunday welcoming people by name, existing members and new families. She has a gift but she also has a job doing church admin. Solution: Give her the sack… no! Rather we need to free her up, redeploy her to the connect team and upskill her with newcomer processes. It’s definitely a new challenge for her but she has a gift and a willingness to serve and grow. This Sunday we have a newcomer connect event with over 40 new people coming. Well done Merryl and thankyou for stepping out of your comfort zone to serve!!!
To free Merryl up we needed someone to help with reception during the week to take some responsibilities off Merryl’s shoulders. In walked Maree, a very gifted and academically astute young lady to volunteer. After an interview and prayer, I discovered she had left her role the scientific community at the end of 2020 with a desire to work with people and to complete a Masters of Business Administration. She was looking for a part time job as she studies. Sometimes God gives you very clear signs and circumstances that even I cant miss. So Maree has now started (2 days a week – Tuesday, Wednesday) at the church to release Merryl for Connect team ministry. Maree’s formal title is Operations Manager as she will be not only doing relief admin but will also take on finances and facility hire management along with managing our tenants in the Childcare centre. Please encourage her as she commences in these roles and seeks to learn new names (as she looks after reception and volunteers on a connect team). God is so good to us. Please pray for the outstanding roles of Worship Pastor and Children’s Pastor. If you are interested in training for a ministry role please see Pastor Roger.
