Position Vacant: Worship Pastor

Feb 16, 2021 | News, Positions Vacant

Whitehill Church of Christ is seeking to follow God’s leading to add a new Worship Pastor to our team who has the appropriate gifting and heart to lead and expand our existing worship team and ministry.  Commencing at 2 days a week with a goal to expand this role, we are seeking the right team leader to encourage, train and equip volunteers to serve in existing worship teams but also with a vision to grow and expand this ministry into new and innovative areas in the area of creative arts.  An opportunity exists to further expand the role and ministry into the community through training and utilisation of gifts through the commencement of a music school.

Worship is our response to all that God is, says, and does, especially Jesus. The Worship Pastor then, leads the team responsible for helping the congregation to worship him.  But at the same time, church-wide ministry worship is continually being stretched and expanded through media, resources and techniques. What used to be accomplished with an organist and a ‘blue hymn book’, now involves teams of people drawing various styles of music from multiple sources using technology whilst conforming to certain legal requirements such as copyright. This has made the administration, organisation, vision, and direction of worship a much more complex role. As we respond as a church to the pull towards contemporising the “message”, we must balance the need for engagement and relevance, while remaining holistically grounded to the gospel and truths we read in the Bible.

Remuneration, policies and principles are based on recommendations from the Queensland Churches of Christ.
