Child Dedications
A moment to bring your children before God in thanksgiving.
Child Dedications at Whitehill
“And the child grew and became strong, filled with wisdom. And the favor of God was upon him.” Luke 2:40
Children have a special place in the heart and sight of God. Jesus welcomed children intro His presence and established their child-like faith as an example for all those who receive the Kingdom of God. Jesus also held children in his arms and blessed them (Mark 10:13-16).
We read other examples in the Bible of parents bringing their children before God in thanksgiving and dedication, including Jesus’ parents (1 Sam. 1:24–28, Luke 2:22-24).
As such, at Whitehill Church, we seek to follow the example of Jesus and other biblical examples of parents bringing children before God to give thanks and ask for His blessing about their precious lives.
Child dedication services give parents the opportunity to publicly declare their commitment to raise their child in a gospel-centred home (see the promise statements below). The congregation will also commit to providing a safe and nurturing environment where the Word of God is taught and lived out. As a church leadership, we will pray a blessing over you and your child that they may grow strong, be filled with wisdom and experience the incredible grace of God through relationship with Jesus.
