Schools Ministry Internships
Schools Ministry Internship in partnership with SU Australia and CRIN Ipswich
A CRI Internship is a year-long, part-time (one day per week) paid ministry apprenticeship where an Intern has the opportunity to intentionally experience the ministry of CRI in a variety of settings, engage in private theological/teaching/youth work/chaplaincy studies (as desired), explore their calling, and be a part of what God is doing in the life of local public schools.
Applications are open to those aged 18-25.
What can you expect?
- A CRI Intern should expect an immersive schools ministry-based experience accompanied by intentional mentoring, training, private study and pastoral care to develop and hone ministry skills. Throughout the year this will happen in four key contexts:
1. On-the-ground: Experience in CRI classes under the direction of a supervising CRI instructor.
2. In Team: opportunities to work in team environments, such as with local networks of CRI Instructors.
3. One-on-one: regularly meetings with supervisor for mentoring, training and reflection on practice and study.
4. Private study: Opportunity to engage in study towards the minimum qualifications to become a SU Australia Schools Ministry employee.

Whitehill Ministry Internships
Ministry Internships at Whitehill
Ministry Internships are voluntary positions for people with recognised leadership potential. Our internships offer training and responsibility in a number of areas of Church Life throughout the year.
Each Intern will receive:
- Insight and exposure to a wide range of ministry activities.
- Opportunities to specialise in a particular ministry area, with hands on training.
- Team Ministry experience in a dynamic and growing church.
One-on-one coaching with Pastors and Team Leaders. - Development in the areas of spiritual formation, personal leadership and ministry growth.
- Local or overseas mission trip.
- Theological and ministry training through a nationally recognised course (course fees not covered).
Ministry Internships will be offered in the following 5 areas:
- Children and Families: Whitehill Kids – Mainly Music – Playgroups
- Youth & Young Adults: Whitehill Youth – Whitehill Young Adults
- Creative Ministry: Music – Worship – Technical (Audio, Lighting & Video)
- Outreach & Integration: Outreach Courses – Welcoming – Newcomers Events
- Discipleship: Life Groups – Spiritual Formation
What can you expect to receive?
At the completion of your internship, you will have:
- Gained an understanding and appreciation for how the Church functions.
- Learned to work in a team environment.
- Developed your ministry and leadership skills through practical experience.
- Received regular coaching from your Ministry Area Leader.
- Received regular input from the leadership team including the Senior Ministry staff.
- Progressed in your personal walk with God.
- Gained a greater understanding of who God has created you to be and what His purpose is for your life.
It is our goal that you will have:
- Trained in discipleship and ministry strategy
- Attended ministry-specific training camps/conferences (e.g. Catapult, Refresh etc.)
- Served in our annual outreach events (Carols, mid-year holiday club etc.)
- Completed a National First Aid Certificate
What will be required of you?
The Internship is a 11-month commitment from mid-January to mid-December. The requirement includes 2 days per week of practical ministry experience (16 hours) including 4 hours on Sunday and 1 day per week study (8 hours). You will be required to worship either morning or night and serve in the opposite service.
During the application process, a formal study option will be recommended based on individual capacity and anticipated ministry area. Whitehill Church does not cover any course fees or related course expenses.
Interns are also required to:
- Abide by the Whitehill Church vision & values and the Churches of Christ Queensland Code of Conduct.
- Commit to church-wide and leadership events such as the GLS, leadership meetings, etc.
- Submit to and come under the authority and supervision of the leadership of Church.
- Be actively involved in a Life Group at Whitehill.
- Hold a current Blue Card and Safe Ministry Training Check.
- Personally seeking God through the spiritual disciplines
FAQ's
Who can be an Intern?
Interns must be at least 17 years old, a committed Christian for at least 12 months, and committed to being a regular part of the Whitehill Church family.
What if I work full time?
The Whitehill Church Intern Program does not suit people working full-time however you are more than welcome to be involved in all aspects of church life and ministry and to serve wherever you feel led. We would encourage you to find a mentor to walk with you in life and ministry as you seek to serve God. The Internship is, however, designed for those who can commit to a level of time that will not work with full-time employment.
What if I want to be an Intern for more than 1 year?
The Intern Program is a commitment for 11 months as outlined above. If an Intern would like to continue their internship to include the following year, they are more than welcome to discuss this with their Ministry Area Leader. This would be assessed on a case by case basis.
Is this a paid or voluntary Internship?
This is a voluntary position. Whitehill Church subsidises the substantial cost of the internship.
