Overseas Support

As a church, we are committed to loving and serving people in need.

Paul and Debbie Howells - Philippines

Paul and Debbie Howells  arrived in the Philippines in 1987, Paul was 25 and Debbie was 21 when they arrived and their missionary journey took us to Mindanao where they continue to serve their Lord until this day.

Their ministry has involved many things that they could never have seen themselves in doing when they first arrived there as a very young couple, but God has empowered them to do through His amazing plan, power and strength!

They have served their Lord there doing church planting, Bible translation, baptizing, teaching, discipleship, medical work, building, community development and all that God has set before their hands to do.

Since 2020, they have begun developing online evangelism materials in four different languages, a newly finished translation of the Talaandig New Testament, built a new office for the translation of the New Testament into the Dulangan Higaonon language.

There are 35 churches that have been planted in the five regions that the work has spread to, and over 130 church leaders, pastors, evangelists and scripture teachers. They continue to help the churches in each of these regions with leadership training, materials, computers, motorbikes, support and buildings… anything that they can do to help further the work of the Gospel and the outreach into new areas.

A special offering will happen on Good Friday in 2024 and it will go towards Paul and Debbie Howells and their missionary work in the Phillipines. You can either place your offerings in the black letter box which is in the auditorium on the left hand side as you enter or can do a direct deposit with reference “Howells”

Whitehill has developed a partnership with churches and communities in Zimbabwe to support those in remote areas with the establishment of bore wells and other projects that develop the local impoverished communities with infrastructure and personal.

Significant progress is also being made with partnerships with local organisations that protect and care for the well being of children who are often orphaned or abandoned.

In October 2024 a short term mission trip is planned to go to Zimbabwe – if interested please contact by clicking the button below.

Compassion Australia

Worldwide, 385 million children live in extreme poverty.

Poverty robs children of their basic rights to learn, play and grow. In its ugliest form, poverty can lead to exploitation, child labour and even death. It’s unacceptable.

That’s why the Compassion Child Sponsorship Program exists. Because more powerful than poverty is the hope of Jesus, the care of a local church and the encouragement of loving people who are willing to sponsor a child.

The Compassion Child Sponsorship Program doesn’t just address children’s physical needs, but the needs of their heart, mind and soul. Here’s how we’re different.

Solomon Islands

Have you been interested in going on a short-term mission trip? Unfortunately, the team is not travelling to the Solomon Islands in 2021 as planned due to ongoing border closures (COVID 19).

We have continued with our fundraising this year so that the previous project can be completed, and the One Pusu Bible College students are working on assisting the house to be finished. Previously, the main construction of the house had been completed with six bedrooms upstairs. Currently, the downstairs area is being completed with living, dining, kitchen, 2 bathrooms and laundry area. When completed the house will be used for visiting lecturers and teams, conferences, meetings, and retreats. It will also allow opportunity for income from holidaying visitors.

If you are interested in what we are doing in the Solomon Islands and what we have done there over the last 12 years, Dan and Kathy Leadbetter are always happy to have a chat to you about it. Or you can have a chat to some one who has been over as part of the team to hear of their personal experiences. While we are unsure when we will be able to travel over there again, we continue to support the college staff and students and other friends in whatever ways we can- prayer, encouragement and helping out with small expenses wherever possible. This is a developing country with poor infrastructure and medical facilities, and minimal cash flow at present (no govt welfare system and some people not getting paid for work).

Our aim is to provide a short-term Working Mission Team, to work in partnership with the local community to provide some essential maintenance and renovation work for One Pusu Bible College campus, on the island of Malaita, in the Solomon Islands. This College provides training for pastors and leaders, equipping them for ministry in their local communities.

Our aim is to put mission into action by reaching out to the people of the Solomon Islands in partnership through not only assisting to improve the One Pusu Bible College facilities, but by building relationships with the island people and participating in some formal and informal activities.
